I don’t mind the story standing static, or character plotting out schemes. Let’s hope Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken picks up the pace and gives us one or two interesting episodes, as it has never stayed dull for long. There are webs building in the undergrounds of each nation, and the spiders are about to come out and play. It goes without saying that I’m also looking for that shock level high. So while this little arc of discussion of the nations was interesting to watch, and see each nation’s political side. I’m here for it! Let the fights begging! Tensei is also about action and sakuga animation. And Civil War is about to commence all planned by Rimuru! The next couple of episodes are really going to shine because we now have all this context that these three nations are acting together to create unrest. This analysis did bring Elalude on Rimuru’s side after all. This political drama feels hindered by the author’s own lack of imagination, these discussions between nations Tempest is friendly with, feel a little bit boring if I’m being honest, we are all Gobta at this point, but they also feel necessary. I’m getting metaphysical at this point, but whatever, it’s late, what the hell right?! The glass disappears and that world projected on the screen becomes real. But I personally think that it’s in the subdue moments that we spend with the characters that really make us appreciate who they are and fall in love with them, like us, they are also normal people. But now it just delved into politics and runs with every single little plot point, thinking all of it is important. Tensei has always been fun for me because of the difference in the isekai formula it has always brought to the table. In the end, Clayman ( Koyasu Takehito ) had a sort of look at this plan I’m concocting type of moment, but Laplace suggests he is being controlled, exactly by who, we still don’t know, and it’s honestly all up in the air right now. I guess some people still don’t believe in the almighty slime-sama! Rimuru being just exactly himself, he decided to prove his actual demon lord-ness.
I didn’t pay him any mind, but in this episode, he sort of became prevalent and challenged the trust everyone has in the slime. Why wouldn’t they be, Rimuru is finally a Demon Lord proven in this episode by the intimidating aura he pushes forward towards Elalude, as Elalude was pushing Rimuru a little too far (?) I didn’t really get the whole reason why Rimuru activated his demon lord aura, but it was a cool moment I guess.Įlalude has been an interesting character, taking the role of Ellen’s father but overall pretty snarky in his comments, sort of the passive-aggressive type. A sort of scapegoat if you will, but planted by Rimuru himself, everyone is in accordance with this plan. The only thing that came through from this experience was that Rimuru is using Veldora to pin his war sins.
But the logical progression of the story has to lead us to this point, where people are sitting around in congress and talking about politics (ugh!). Has Tensei lost its way? I don’t think so at all. And I think most of it is true even though this and the last episode has made me dubious about where the future lays, and the week-by-week entertainment it’s given me. Rimuru has always been the glue that holds together the series.
Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken has always been a show where things are either very wholesome or insanely interesting because of the way Rimuru approaches difficult situations. But we’re too deep in it now to do anything drastic about it. My thoughts about this episode are largely the same as the last episode.
